SINISTER MONSTER DOOM LEGION pt.23
I honestly don’t know why I chose the name “Kennedy” for Zodi Jr. Darkevilhelldeath-Man has been referring to all of his underlings in a formal sense so far, so there was no avoiding it when it came time for him to address this most mysterious of supervillains. The real Zodiac Killer has, of course, never been discovered (and all theories have been poopooed), so no logical name connection can be made in that department. “Kennedy” just came out of thin air; although I guess it could be taken as a sick joke to name a gun nut after one of the most notorious sniper victims of all time.
Does Dadahyena own that gallery?? ha
I think I am going to have to commission you one day to do my caricature.
Man, I wish I could be there for this event. I would love to get an original DH piece!
I think Darkevilhelldeath-Man resembles Raul Julia from the Street Fighter movie in this strip, I’m really interested in how this disaster is going to be thwarted, if it is going to thwarted that is. 😀
… couldn’t she just, like, pull the sock puppet off his hand?
@Bearman I wish…actually, I retract that. I can barely manage my laundry, much less a gallery.
You can get a FREE caricature if you order the SCAPULA book from the Store section…all I’m sayin’!
@George No worries. Like I said: caricatures come with the book (yeah, so I’m hustling the book. What are ya’ gonna do about it?! Nya ha ha ha ha!).
@Roland You know, I may have actually been watching that when I drew this. Hell, they’ve got the same eyes!
For a real Raul Julia treat, look no further than “Overdrawn at the Memory Bank”, a Mystery Science Theater 3000 classic.
@InvaderZimFan She could…but that would be WRONG (and maybe indecent).
Really enjoy reading your material. Very cool visuals.
On a side note, Burbank, that’s where we have our monthly meetings at The Animation Guild. Cool!
But I want color AND I want my wife in it too. See how I negotiate.
@MJ The Animation Guild is really a wonderful place. I haven’t been by there in a while, but once I figure out when they do those “pitch nights” I’ll come on by with some of my storyboards. Hope to see you there!
@Bearman I don’t really do color in caricatures so much since I’ve lost interest in using Art Stix (a somewhat pastel-like coloring tool that I used to use back in the theme park days). I can color them digitally for much better results.
…and yes, I’ll put your wife in the caricature, provided that it’s in B&W (I don’t seem to have your guys shade of green hair and yogurt pink skin…).
Ha ha! Catholic upbringing! That explains a lot… severely twisted minds owe lots to the Cathols (myself included)… but ain’t Catholic churches perty? Are you of a Catholic upbringing? Anyhoo… love the coloring… especially at the bottom… that aqua blue knocks me out.
And…. Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight….
I, too, wish I could be down there for the Caricature event! Boo hoo…
@squidrowmommy I don’t think we should lump all Catholics together, but yes, there are lots of artists and entertainers who were directly affected by that particular upbringing. Since I don’t want this comic to become a soapbox for theological debates I’m going to sidestep the conversation for the time being.
And yes, Catholic churches are very beautiful, although I can only imagine that Europe has all of the really sweet ones (plus they’ve got hunchbacks in ’em!).
It would be dangerous for you to draw me! I can’t be responsible for your mental breakdown! o.O
No wonder the giant mechanized beast of doom is in such a foul mood… somebody get that dude some Tums (that’s some seriously destructive acid reflux)! 🙂
@jynksie The madness of drawing Scott would lead me to developing a homicidal personality…EGAD! Scott created Darkevilhelldeath-Man! He drove Scapula Mad(bury)!
@SpilledInky Having Babirus inside of you is probably the most disgusting scenario one can think of (no matter how you interpret that context).
On a fun side note, ‘Tums’ spelled backwards is ‘smut’…think about it.
Yeah, I’d go for the puppet, too. Who knows, maybe it’s one of those cases where the puppet is actually controlling the puppeteer.
@Binky Puppet controlling the puppeteer? Listen, my friend, if that’s a political metaphor I’ll have you know that we keep world events and politics OUT of this funny page! No siree, Bob, it’s all scary monsters and super creeps around here!
…but if you meant literally that the puppet’s in charge, then yeah, you nailed it.
Hahah! On my third visit (or is it fourth?) to this page I finally noticed the cute little epaulettes* on DarkEvilHellDeathMan! Awww….
*note: “epaulette” in Latin is “spatula”, so we have a case of Scapula wearing spatulas, as well as a sock puppet. Thought you’d all like to know that. ;`)
I love that last panel. The perspective is awesome! As is the fine use of gaussian blurring.
@jande I’m happy that someone finally noticed those things! I was afraid the epaulettes made DEHD-Man look like a doorman.
Scapula will need a spatula after the Behemoth steps on him.
I’m not too sure about the perspective (then again, the Behemoth is kind of sinking into the ground), but the blur and slight erasing of the linework is a trick I use to create the illusion of distance. See, I did pay attention in art class!
