GANGWAY pt.6
So, last week I admitted my faults as a writer and today I’m going to admit a fault I have as an artist: I hate drawing cars. Hate it, hate it, HATE IT. They’re extremely frustrating for me to draw, and whenever I do they always seem to come out fifteen feet long, like the old 1950’s models. The only thing I hate drawing more than cars are airplanes, so rest assured, no one in SCAPULA is going to be taking any flights too soon.
“Olivia” is modeled after a friend I have in San Francisco, further proof that knowing cartoonists can be hazardous to your public image (then again, you don’t know my friend…). And, yes, the “roll in ze hay” line is a direct reference to Young Frankenstein.
I use Askimet on my site and it pretty much catches everything.
You and I are alike with the car thing. Only difference is yours turns out well and mine don’t.
3 hours…that’s a lot of time in foreplay.
You’re going to try “doubly-hard” to find out comments? Are you sure you’re ignoring all those ads for viagra and cialis? (Oh well. Those are better than the spams I’ve gotten lately telling me I can have perfect boobs without surgery. Um, yeah… right…)
Wonder what will happen faster? Will she “pop a Scap?” Or will the mystery figure behind the beaded curtains pop a cap?
But, dude … I can get you a great deal on some knock-off Ambien!

I’ve had the same problem with comments on my site – and recaptcha apparently gave up and marked everything as spam. I second what Bearman said, I’ve installed Akismet and so far so good!
Also – your cars look good to me – the crash (and manatee truck) reminds me of Grand Theft Auto.
Thank you guys for understanding my dilemma (and enduring my rant). Like most needy artists, I love getting comments and critiques, so when someone goes to the trouble of leaving a comment and it gets lost when my eyes glaze over all the cialis ads…well, that’s when I get cranky.
Now, somewhere, out there, I’ve hurt Dan Long’s feelings, and he’s getting revenge by having people make snowmen effigies of me and destroying them…eep.

@Bearman I honestly don’t believe in rushing things…except for drawing cars, so I can get it over with and not have to endure the awful experience that is drawing cars.

@Hoomi Two points for the pun, ten points for referring the other readers to the “perfect boobs without surgery” thing. Hmmm…would Scapula be more popular if he had boobs? One way to find out, I guess!

Glad you noticed Manatee Motors…I just remembered now that the manatee’s greatest enemy is indeed the dreaded motor boat.

@Dan Good to hear from you again (extended vacation or hiding from the feds?). Everything I’ve learned about driving comes from video games, in particular that immortal classic, Mario Kart.
Sigh…if only you could shoot Red Turtle Shells at the jerks on the freeway.

Dude, the cars look awesome! Scapula reminds me of those cartoons with the wolf in the zoot suit and the googly eyes.
I am terrible when it comes to cars and buildings. That’s why I draw everyone inside and hardly ever traveling (unless it’s thru time). You did a great job on that van crash. Coloring helps out a lot.
And I like Scap’s “ohboys”. He sounds like I would.
@David Oh, nice! Tex Avery’s ghost is possessing Scap…actually, he’s nowhere near as hyperactive as a Tex cartoon, but what the hey.
@George Hey, “Garfield” uses the same cheat everyday. I should just have the characters sitting at a table instead of bothering with the new locales.
