As we get closer to the end of the Giant Attack Monsters Mega-Battle story, let’s take a peek at the new comic collection, Scapula and the Sinister Monster Doom Legion.

The first story in it is Horror in the Wax Museum; or, Scapula After MidnightA horrifying tale of a spooky museum, a gaggle of ghastly grotesques, and a living potty! Presented in glorious B&W and chock-full of vampires, werewolves, zombies, and other cuddly creeps, this story is for all the die-hard fans of classic horror.

This is a story I wanted to do as far back as 2014 (it was actually meant to be one of the stretch goals for the crowdfunding campaign for Scapula: World’s Worst Villain), but in retrospect I’m glad I didn’t get around to it until much later. As some of you may remember (especially my Patreon backers) I spent 2016 studying and re-teaching myself how to draw comics the way I wanted; if nothing else it gave me an excuse to pore over the great horror comics of E.C. and Warren (and, of course, to dig into the forever-awesome MAD archives), which I tried to emulate here.

The other fun thing is that it’s Scapula all by himself…yeah, there’s a bunch of beasts and spooks, but it also has a lot of moments of just Scapula with his demented thoughts, which is both a pleasure and a challenge to write.  I sort of consider this story ‘Scapula 101’, so if you’re trying to introduce anyone to the series this is a good place to do it.

More on the new comic next week, fellow fiends!
