Toxsick wasn’t particularly close to his ex-wife and children, but this is still unhappy news. I’ll let you gauge his reaction for yourselves.

Um. Wow. That’s dark.
That’s whatcha’ get in this comic!
Could Scap be lying? I mean, Scap is Scap. He’s done just about every dirty, rotten, sleazy, slimy thing that a villain can do. And he’s told a pretty heavy whopper of a lie or two in the past….. But would he REALLY lie about this? To Toxsick? I mean, Toxsick is about as close to being ‘loyal’ to Scapula as a person can be, with the exception of Hypnausea (for whatever reason). Toxsick is a family man, even if his family is pretty awful, and they’re still his family. He’s a working-class guy. He works for a reason, he’s a villain because it pays. I like to think that’s why he really does what he does, because it pays the bills for his responsibilities. He’s cold, clinical, and professional on the job. I do not recall him, even once, ever actually taking any kind of enjoyment in the bad stuff he’s done. He gets the job, gets the job done, then gets paid for the job….. Presumably out of the ‘desperate’ desire to do right by his kids. It seems to me that pushing that particular button would be a BAD thing for Edgar, later, if it comes to light that he lied just to get Toxsick riled up into a paternal fury of revenge. Toxsick likes getting PAID…. not USED.
But, then again? This is your dystopia. And, knowing what I know about this comic and your world and its seeming lack of rules? I would just as easily bet that we’re going to see Toxsick rip off his mask with an enormously maniacal grin of sincere joy and relief before doing the happiest happy-dance ever, happily into the happy sunset now that he’s free.
Who knows?? Let’s find out!
Interesting theories, one and all, and like you said, we shall find out soon enough. That’s the tricky thing about writing a character who’s a liar; sometimes you just have to decide for yourself what is what.
As for Toxsick, don’t expect him to take this lying down…he’s got a nice stolen armchair parked in the othe rroom!
I think Toxsick just set a new personal best for unflappability.
There’s still so much further he could go. What would happen if he got shot in the face?
“…meh. Ughhhh….”
On the upside, no more child support and all that. Chin up, Toxsick!
Okay, I’m not much of a grief counsellor.
Who knows, his kids may have been on the road to becoming little hoodlums themselves. Perhaps this spares potential victims down the road?
I think what you mean is, oh no, there goes two potential recruits for the rebuilding of Scapula’s army!
Ha.
Let’s see, who else has family that we are aware of? Oh no, what about Babirus’ family in the sewers??
I, for one, would LOVE to see the Kabale try it.
They’ve got a better chance. Toxsick’s family were well documented. Like Toxsick said, they’ve all done time and don’t have secret identities – and he was paying alimony/child-support.
But sewer family? They might be secret. Secret enough? Who knows.
Err,,, would Babirus even care? Not sure.
They’re also very efficient killers who would probably just make hitman stew and nice leather goods.
Babirus’ cannibal hobo family (who, as we all know, have only appeared in one story) would probably be safe, unless if the Kabale really REEEEALLY did their homework. Since they weren’t blood relatives (well, they were blood-thirsty!) there wouldn’t be any record of them in the little available knowledge of Babirus’ past. They also seem to specialize in keeping themselves hidden away pretty well (which may explain why they haven’t been seen since).
Moral of the story: keep your folks tucked away, preferably in a sewer tunnel caked in entrails and poo.
o.O
This got … dark. And Vlad is going to be getting quite dead. It’s just a matter of time.
It could be worse. Toxsick couldn’t been like, “Saved me the trouble.”
