Looks like enough’s enough’s enough for Jemini². She’s gone from helpless captive to happy housewife to unhappy housewife to helpless captive to groin-slashing murderer. What’s next for this renegade duplicate?
Someone else is going to be pretty upset about this turn of events (well, besides the guy with the stabbed junk).
After careful consideration, I have decided not to mess with Jemini.
Good thinking! I’m just the guy who draws her, and I still wouldn’t mess with her (interpret that psychology however you like),
Stabbing someone in the balls? Well, that’s gangster live for you.
Sticking your tongue out beforehand? Now that’s just mean.
Actually she’s pouting her lip, but I think your idea of blowing a raspberry is a lot funnier. Imagine how many famous deaths in movies would have had a better impact if the killer had made a tongue ‘fart’!
The mocking him with the wide dewy eyes is just literal adding of insult to injury. I didn’t even realize it until re-reading it the second time (I do that on occasion for the Sunday strips, since it seems that the color allows you to add in extra subtle details to those easier than with the regular weekday B&W ones.)
…..Aaaaand that’s why I love Jemini^2. She is my two-headed spirit animal. Who tells me to stab people in the junk… I’ll show myself out.
Bone Chyna won’t be happy about that, though.
Chyna…I never was into rasslin’, but suddenly I remember her. There are rumors abound as to what happened to her (a particularly notable if probably not true one involving a steroid overdose and a…growth), but Bone Chyna could be an interesting mash-up.
Okay, now I’ll show MYSELF out.
I’ve seen it… the area in question is notably more prominent than on the average female, true, but rumors that it it is not significantly, er, masculine in resemblance are exaggeration.
As the only person here who WOULDN’T be terrified of Jemini in any state, I’d like to note she has a rather notable vulnerability to DEATH. Yeah she’s pretty nasty when everyone else is doing all her work for her, but so far she’s had a lot of herself killed off and the only reason she isn’t dead is because she hides behind a lot of bodies and only shows up to be nasty when she knows she can get away with it. In short, she’s devious and manipulative, but she’s not much of a threat when she doesn’t have an army behind her. Or in front of her, more commonly. Heck I’d be more scared of modern day Scapula than Jemini in a fair fight.
Don’t get me wrong, she’s a pretty nasty girl. But she’s definitely more Bond Villain than Badass. In terms of people I’d be scared of in this comic I’d put her slightly above Mona Naware and El Disgusto, and well below Hypnausea.
That said, she just axed Vlad. Points for that!
Good points made there, which also makes sense when you realize she defeated Vlad by having a lackey restrain him. Whether or not her plans would have been different had she not been able to recruit Sanderson is probably a moot point, but she knew going in that the big ape would be taking most of the physical risk.
Also keep in mind this is the Jemini copy who has been subject to brainwashing and whatnot. Whether that makes her more or less dangerous than the real thing is debatable, especially after what happens next…
Also noted a funny thing. Vlad reminds me of Dog Doo Doug. Wonder if Die Kabale had any truck with the fecophiliac?
You’re not the first person to notice that, although I can’t blame people for drawing that conclusion. The simple answer is that I hate Interview with the Vampire and find its pretentious fop vampires to be great targets for parody, whether it’s gothy prettyboys like Vlad or just poo-flinging cretins like Doug.
If you hate IWTV for that, I can’t help but ask what your opinions on Twilight are…
That said, I rather like what Meyer did, in creating a supernatural immortal race whose physiology amounted to blood-fueled pseudo-golems… I just hate she called them “vampires” when they had nothing but blood-consumption in common with the latter entities.
[Crosses legs] I don’t even have the requisite thing to feel sorry for, and I do. Yick.
Well, at least he only had to live a very short life as a brutally-castrated man. Like Jemini said, she’s letting him off (fairly) easy.
That escalated quickly. I mean that REALLY got out of hand! There were cultists, and a gang HQ on fire- I think Jemini killed a guy!
It’s going to go even quicker! By tomorrow they’ll be five millennia into the future, riding artificially-reconstructed dinosaurs with turbo jets and tye-dye lasers! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
It took me a while to put my finger on what bothers me about this comic. It’s the complete and utter lack of empathy for Vlad’s sexually abusive past. Like most people Jemini seems to think it’s a joke when that kind of thing happens to a man.
Interesting fact: Jenn, who was herself actually a sexual predator by disposition (not, thankfully, action) considered rape of a male to be far and away worse than rape of a female because of the complete lack of trauma support available for men in that position. The woman who considered breaking people’s limbs to be a form of artistic expression thought that. Harsh.
Having gone to college to be a counsellor and knowing the psychopaths and fringe elements I do, I can safely say it isn’t something to be looked lightly on from any side. If nothing else, it helps explain a lot of Vlad’s lack of empathy.
Jemini mocking Vlad about his past is a colossal act of meanness and spite. This is not a friendly scene and Jemini wants Vlad to suffer, whether by attacking his pride or just that FRIGGIN’ BLOODY GROIN-STABBING.
Abuse and rape in any sense is not something to be taken lightly, nor should we ever make light of the victims whether they be men, women, children, animals, etc (you all may think at least one of those may be a joke, but I’m certain it happens).
Vlad’s past was revealed to give just a hint of an explanation as to why Bone China keeps coming back to him. I don’t want to elaborate on that too much, since 1) explaining the story means I’m failing as a storyteller, and 2) I do like to leave something to personal reader interpretations of the characters and what motivates them.
I’ve said this so many times that I may as well just put it in the comic header: whether or not you love or hate the characters is entirely up to you. Hopefully each reader has found a character that they can sympathize with; Scapula, Bone China, Jemini, and even Vlad probably have at least one supporter out there. Conversely, condemning them for their evil or idiotic actions is also fine!
Ummm. Well then… I guess that took care of that. You paid particular close attention to the detail in Vlad’s face… impressive work. And uh… is it me? … or is Jem particularly MORE EVIL! … of late.
Everyone is more evil of late! Even the mailman dropping off Vlad’s mail has become evil! Even this very website is evil!…and everyone who sees it!
But not me. I’m a little cutie!
Of course, you are.
