The war has begun. Scapula has supervillains and punk soldiers…but who can say how far the Kabale’s reach extends? Has Scap truly taken on too great of an enemy this time? This one’s not going to end anytime soon, so let’s find out just who will survive this story.
…and for you generous readers out there, there’s a new episode of DADAMAN up on the Scapula Patreon page! Patrons who donate $5-$10 get to read exclusive comics, so spread some of the love around!
I seriously want to know what Babirus would do with a milllion dollar. I can’t picture anything…
Buy cooking ingredients? No, you are right, I do not know either.
Probably eat it.
Gee….. I’ve never heard of anyone stealing an entire CULT before. Note, not ‘stealing FROM’. Stealing the CULT, itself.
This is pretty ambitious….. Discovering and saving his ex will just be a sheer coincidence when the time comes. I’m sure the rest of the gang will understand.
Oh, bigger things have been stolen before, like entire countries (and continents, depending on your world-views). Pocketing this cult is probably the most realistic step on his long-term list of goals.
AAAAAH! TIGADACTYLl SWALLOWED SOMEONE!!! Oh, wait……………
……………..
so do half the others.
It’s like watching the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie and occasionally spotting the stuntmen inside the turtle costumes (look closely whenever they open their mouths wide).
And then the movie turns into ‘Five Nights at Splinter’s’. :3
Maybe once the money starts rolling in, they can buy some cushier chairs for the meeting table.
They threw most of the decor budget into that tabletop design. What the hey, money well spent!
I agree, that’s an awesome table. I want one!
Well, at least he’s got the right idea. That’s a lot of loot to pocket and potentially more. What could…..
….. no, lots and LOTS of things could go wrong. Which one will is the question!
There should be a “Wheel of Misfortune” to decide what sort of disastrous outcome could occur (imagine what an evil Vanna would look like)!
Which ones will is the question!
Huh. Managed to reply to the wrong post 🙁
We forgive you, Andy! However, we do have to take you out back and beat you with wooden sandals now, as a matter of principle.
I’m making no predictions on who lives and dies. I have hopes for some, but at the end of the day our dear Mr. Casserly could decide to smite the whole lot with a meteor and move on to Scapula Junior. (Please don’t, but I mean, you could if you wanted to!) As I keep saying, his comic, his choices, and I like it so I support it.
Still torqued off that Knuckle Sam is dead, but eh….. At least characters in this strip STAY dead!
Their table is eight million times cooler than the Justice League’s.
Agreed, except this table doesn’t have Aquaman sitting there.
Aquaman rules (He does! A whole kingdom!).
I think they may actually have a chance at this. I mean, leaving aside Scap’s ‘disaster magnetism’ and the effects of Narrativium, obviously.
But in theory the Sinister Monster Doom Death Legion (is that right) are all way, way under the radar as far as society goes. So far under, so deep in the sewers, that faeces have a higher social standing. And the Kabale work through society, through social structures and societies agents. Sure, they’ll be able to exert leverage on the more respectable, aspiring and socially mobile criminals – but those are very tough people to threaten or intimidate, and very risky people to hire or do deals with. Working down through the layers will take the Kabal time, and they’ll be working at a distance through increasingly erratic and unsavoury hired minions just to get reliable information.
If Scap and the Legion can work fast, efficiently and with smooth co-ordination…
…ahh, who am I kidding? Scap and the Legion are going dowwwnnnn!
Interesting theory there, Andy! We shall see just how the SMDL go about their wicked little plan, but one thing is certain: Scapula’s proposal of a “hard, fast, and brutal” strike is easier said than done.
But if they ARE going down, you better believe it will be fighting!
Fluttery high society groups have a bad habit of being very, very fragile. When the SMDL took on the entire criminal underworld the first time they bulldozed more respectable figures simply by bringing more cleavers, bullets, and poison gas to the fight than the other guy. The Kabale has a face to maintain. Is this going to be another one way shoot-em-up?
Nah. While the SMDL used to be low fliers, these days they’re rather well known from sticking their big mitts into a lot of pies both successfully and not. And now they have a lot of enemies. Sam’s old gang wasn’t taken out, just her. Sharkmouth’s got to have bones to pick with them by now, even just individually. Jemini would sell them out for a nickel and a milky way bar. Plus the rich guys almost always have connections with the police and other authorities, and Scap’s group has been making a lot of waves.
The SMDL can rip a bloody hunk out of anyone, but organized resistance will splinter them. It’s the hazard of a group held together only by reward and charisma. That’s what keeps them coming back alive though……. by the time anyone has figured out any one of them to run down they’ve all gone to ground, and in a few months they all emerge again, look around, and realize they still have no better options. Plus, while Scap’s group of kids are getting pretty good at their schtick, they’re not cops or soldiers. They’re dumb punks who follow a guy with a plastic face and his goon squad. The Kabale probably has their own masked mook squad, and they can pay to replace them too.
And Scap’s a bag of inner conflicts, home problems, and insecurities. While that kind of rage and spite can be a powerful motivator and survival tool, it sure as heck doesn’t help keep the family together. Just ask any counsellor.
True. On the other hand, while SMDL have made a lot of enemies (criminal and law-enforcement), none of those enemies (that I recall) have made a move against them except when SMDL happen to show up on the spot. Which seems to suggest either that their enemies don’t actually think SMDL are worth going after (low threat nuisance) or their enemies have no idea where they are or how to get at them.
Of course SMDL would fall apart when push came to shove (and given their track record will probably fall apart or spontaneously explode anyway :D), but if they could carry off a co-ordinated attack before their target can organise an appropriate resistance, or track them down and strike first, then they could (as I said before, in theory) get away with it.
This is so nicely composed, this page. Artistically speaking.
Heck, it might even be that Scapula means business. But it seems odd that everybody at the table appears to be paying attention.
AND I love Hypnausia’s “aye” pose.
