My old ‘mates’ would basically clarify they weren’t happy with the ratting going on, cough up some cash to keep it quiet, and then go pound whoever was leaking info. Happened all the time, but God couldn’t help you if you did anything to the bartenders I used to know without something shy of a mafia family behind you.
