In case if you were wondering, the satanic-looking wax statue seen in today’s comic (and yesterday’s) is inspired by the monster in the very awesome horror movie classic Night of the Demon (1957, known in America as Curse of the Demon). Check it out if you haven’t seen it!
First rule of dealing with violent people: be confident. Don’t be boisterous, cocky, arrogant, or pushy unless you’re REALLY that good, but simple confidence opens a lot of doors. You can even back out of a situation much easier with a little confidence…… fear or hesitation is an invitation to being targeted. Basically a lot of people are still like animals, specifically scavengers, and scavengers target the weak.
…and, if all else fails, a little grooming and removing of parasites is a nice bonding technique. Just don’t make eye contact with the alpha male, lest you incite a fight to the death or a feces-flinging competition!
Actually, that almost sounds like a lot of humans out there.
I see someone else has traveled through the seedier regions of the south.
I get the feeling Scap his idea may be very promising.
Very few hearts are as dark as the ones that just got broken, especially if the wounds are still open. After the horric pain he had only just faced, I doubt he would mind if the city where laid to waste. 😉
If only more women could see inside Scapula’s soul the way that you do!
Actually, I think most of us in the ‘real world’ (that is, the internet) would probably avoid hanging out with Scap. But hey, as a fictional character, maybe we can relate to him.
I’d hang out with him! Admittedly I’d probably hit him a lot, but that wouldn’t be different from anyone else he knows, I imagine.
I think he’d take any female attention he could get.
What do you suppose “the gang” really has to do… that is better than sitting around waiting for someone else to plan evil-doing? Losers.
Good point there! I think they’re mostly upset over the fact that they’ve been told to sit around, instead of just sitting around by their own free will.
That may not seem like a big difference, but when you have the mindset of a villain it’s actually a pretty huge one!
Well, Tox DOES have to clean up his house, and Hypnausea always has SOMEthing going on……. but it’s a solid point with the rest.
But yes, being told to do nothing drives anyone nuts, all the more for anti-authority types (or anti-sanity types, and anti-hygene types……)
It’s an experiment worth trying on your family and friends; ask them for a favor and see how many of them procrastinate doing it. Then ask them to do nothing (or “wait”) for a while and see how many have things that they have to get done right this moment.
Reverse psychology guides our brains, people! The only reason Homo sapiens ever stood upright is because the other animals told them not to do it!
Where’s the fan?
Getting hit by the sh_t!
Lady Jen… Yah… Hypnausia has a little black book, yah? He has, *ahem*…. plenty of people to do. (chick-a BOOM! … literally) ah ah ah ahhhhhhaaaaaa. Forgive me.
Hypnausea just took the phone book and painted the cover black. Seems to save time!
That look on Scapula’s face in the final panel would make even the Joker go “Huh? You okay, bruh?”
I’ve heard the Joker had his face removed in recent comic continuity. Why?…I dunno. Ask someone who reads ‘the new 52’.
…but it’s still good to know he’d be concerned about Scapula’s well-being!
Night of the Curse of the Demon was pretty good. The satanist guy was actually more likeable than the protagonist-except for that whole murder by demon thing.
Karswell, the sorceror/mommy’s boy villain, definitely steals the show, and while I can’t call it a fantastic performance I still think Nial McGinnis does well with the role. And yes, he is more likable than the knowitall hero.
