For the unacquainted: There’s a LOT of backstory being recapped here (even if the “facts” have been tampered with…); for a crash-course on the history of Scapula and Jemini, a few good stories to read are GANGWAY, SCIENCE FICTION DOUBLES FEATURE, and FLIGHT INTO HORROR!.
It sounds like Scap has given Jem’s duplicate a rather distorted version of past events, but will she weave her way through?…and, of course, who the hell is that person she’s talking to?
Oooooo!
Audience: “Aaahhhhhh”
I really like how you used the bright colours to illustrate the falseness of the implanted memories. And I’m really enjoying the current story arc, a lot of subplots all converging on Scapula at the same time: his old gang, a possible war with Sharkmouth, this Jemini breaking free of hypnosis, and let us not forget that one of his recruits is the son of a well-known city cop, which I suspect is going to come back and bite him in the ass one day.
Also, I suspect Dr. Jeraukov to be the mysterious voice. She is a psychiatrist, after all, and has ample motive.
Glad you enjoyed the coloring! I limit myself so often to a desaturated pallet that it’s actually nice to occasionally bust out some bright colors. Plus, like you said, it make the difference between flashbacks and ‘reality’ more noticeable.
Who is the mysterious voice? Guess away, people!
Clu Gulager. Or, failing that, my money is on John Saxon.
“Crow, I’m putting you on Clu Gulager alert.”
Oh hey, yeah, Scapula? You might have wanted to remember that people know people and the whole world is plugged into this crazy communications grid. You know, a fancy cutting edge thing nobody’s heard of yet called the ‘Internet’. So, y’know, when you mess with their head, there’s surely no way they can get talking to anyone, right?
Sure painted himself up a nice rosy picture of the past, didn’t he? Also, am I the only one who cracked up at reading ‘Evil Clones’, coming from Jemini?!
Love the sinister grin(s) in panel 3 hun. Can’t wait to find out who’s going to be taking a crowbar to the knees of Scap’s latest plan. Also, Jemini stil wears that goth look well.
I especially dig the twin “♊” necklaces.
The world of SCAPULA would be a lot different if all of the characters were constantly on the internet; one can only wonder what their social media profiles would be like. It sounds like a funny idea (especially for Hypnausea), so I may have to do that one day.
Well, it was stated that he had a blog in the Devil May Care story.
I dunno…… I think business suit Jemini is cuter than goth Jemini, though perhaps not as nice as birthday suit jemini.
These all sound like action figure variants, like Arctic Adventure Jemini and Deep Sea Diver Jemini.
Damnation, I have to find a way to get some SCAPULA toys made!
Why not? There’s a lot less interesting toys out there and people buy them!
Panel 4 is very high ranking in ‘creapiest shit i’ve seen in a long time’.
But Scap looks so caring and concerned!…oh, wait, maybe that IS the creepy part.
Panel 2: They look so happy together, sowing murder and mayhem, and through it all they’ve got each other…
‘Scuse me, I’ve got something in my eye…
Hey, if you’re going down romantic memory lane, you might as well spruce it up a little.
Now I wish I had added some flowers and chirping Disney birds.
A few bullet casings might have been a nice touch too. Nothing more romantic than cordite!
Hahahha… Panel two needs a sappy Lovey-dovey song! … and animated flowers… and exploding hearts over their heads…
Insert the sappy old love song of your choice; I’m going with Gale Garnett’s classic, “We’ll Sing in the Sunshine” (and all that it implies).
Man, A. You’ve got Jem looking so delectably sensational in her modest black ensemble. I’m smitten as heck over here.
I’m curious to see who it is she’s pouring her heart out to. This can’t be good for whatever plan Scapula has brewing. 🙂
