@Bearman Peter MacNicol I think would be the best choice for an animated series. Tim Curry might be TOO good; he has such a strong voice he might end up making Scap look like LESS of a wuss!
@SpilledInky Ahh, the corruption behind the pet product industry. Apparently Gritty Kittty was taken down by Elliot Ness the other week…
I think my favorite panel is the last one with him eating that burger. It looks so real.
And Steve Buscemi would be an excellent choice to showcase the chutzpah and innate wimpiness of Scapula. He’s definitely got the goods to do this role justice.
I didn’t know Peter was the voice of Doc Ock!! I absolutely LOVED his character in Ghostbusters 2…so much that I still quote his lines to this very day. And I love the Spectacular Spiderman cartoon so its a win win! I definitely agree with Steve as Scapula though…thats almost a no brainer!
@Charles Happy to hear you approve of my selection! The funny thing about MacNicol is, as much as I love his interpretation of the character, I still kind of prefer Efrem Zimbalist, Jr as the voice of Dr. Octopus (he voiced the character for the 90’s animated series). I’m not sure why (the deeper voice, maybe?), although I do think MacNicol is my #1 choice for voicing Scapula in an animated series. Picky, aint I?
The line of his I love to quote from Ghostbusters II is, “Everything you are doing is bad.”
Spectacular Spider-Man was a great series; it’s a shame it didn’t get renewed for another season….they might have had Tim Curry in it (hey, it could happen!).
I totally agree with the Steve Buscemi role, and I had no idea what MacNicol was doing after Ghostbusters II. By the way, I love the hand in the last panel. It has a very Frank Miller quality to it. 🙂
@David MacNicol apparently gets a lot of work (audiobooks, I’ve heard), and I think it would be hilarious to see Buscemi completely decked out in Scapula gear. We can only hope, right?
And, yes, the Dugong owes something to the Kingpin (although I’ve never actually read any of Miller’s Daredevil comics).
@jynksie I don’t think there’s a person out there who doesn’t love Tim Curry. It’s hard to say what it is, but the man just has a lot of appeal. Or, as a lady friend told me, “I WANT TO __CK HIM SO HARD.”
I’ve actually never seen “IT”, so I’ll have to go out now and try to find it. Thanks for the recommendation!
PS Who’s hide-out is that? Some “Lost World” fan, apparently!
PPS I hope you make it into storyboarding! If you do, you’ll let us know what you work on, right?
Do not watch “It”, unless if you want to watch a group of annoying old losers argue with each other for hours (with tiny cameos by Tim Curry and a monster).
Peter and Tim get my vote. Both can play on the dark stuff but then do a great whiny voice too.
Hmmm … a corporate cat-food cover …
judging from my feline friend’s behavior I wouldn’t be surprised if she was in on this plot, too!
Those are some interesting potential cast members … I’ll have to think about that question for a while! 🙂

And I also loved Tim Curry in Loaded Weapon. 🙂
@George If Dugong eating the burger looks realistic it’s because my family eats like that, so I’ve had plenty of study!
Loaded Weapon…I haven’t seen that in forever, but it contains a memorable exchange:
“What are you doing?”
“Nothin’…takin’ a sh_t.”
Ahhh, a storm’s a-brewin’.
@David That it is, my friend…not only the gang war on the horizon, but the chili burger going through the Dugong’s system! Take cover!

And Tim Curry in anything is just good comedy!

Bobcat Golthwait?
@SocialVermyn Ohhhh, a smart-alleck, eh?!
Actually…that could work.
I’m huge Tim Curry fan myself, lets nor forget Pennywise from Steohen Kings “IT”! The man has the ability to play deliciously evil!!

Peter MacNicol’s got my vote. And could we please have Brian Blessed as Throgor?

@UnReal Maybe John Goodman as Throgor…it would go well with Buscemi as Scapula (“Shut the f__k up, Donnie!”)
The hide-out is Scap’s, who, like me, is a big monster movie geek. And thank you for the well wishes regarding the storyboards!
UPDATE: I saw “It”. It sucks. It sucks so hard.
