Scapula has been enjoying some great success this year, but a winning streak can only go on for so long. Does Scapula foresee any particular disaster on the horizon or is he being consumed by his own fears? Will Jemini’s double be there to support him when this omen comes to pass? And where will this terrible thing strike: from within his own ranks, from an unknown enemy, or from something in the past?
If that’s not enough cryptic babble for you, tune in this Wednesday for a special teaser on what’s to come when SCAPULA resumes in June.
This was definitely not what I expected when you mentioned a “season finale”. But I still think it’s really good! It’s certainly a much more thoughtful and intelligent way of leaving this story arc than just some huge bout of slapstick, or a sudden murder in the very last panels. Very intriguing, I like how it’s been written!
Well, so much for the bonus page of Scap and Jem breaking out into a pie fight and then falling off the rooftop. Eh, maybe that can be a bonus feature for the next book.
In any case, so glad you enjoyed, and here’s hoping you catch the teaser on Wednesday!
Famous last word before sabatical? Nice touch.
As for the prophesy: He’s in a rather dangerous business. So it’s not to far fetched to assume something or other can go terribly wrong.
But I’m looking foreward to it; For I love it when a plan explodes!
Scapula’s schemes have exploded before (in one case, literally), but does he foresee a plan turning to crap or something much, much worse? Let’s see if Caracan’s prophesy comes true.
…and if it does, start predicting some lotto numbers for me.
That’s life. Things go good for a while then they suck. The problem is people spend so much time fearing the down-swing they never remember to enjoy the success, or the good times. People never think about all the days you spend where things are just fine. Everyone’s always cringing, fearing the next hit, or griping about miniscule things and ruining the decent and good days.
Bad stuff will hit you. Why worry about it? According to my Pocket Philosopher, the Dhalai Llama said something to the effect of: “If you worry, and things don’t happen, you worried for nothing. If you worry and things do happen, all your worrying was useless and solved nothing. Therefore worrying is never useful.” Something I’ve taken to heart in the last few years. I recommend it.
But if I worry and something does happen, I’m ahead of the game! Yeah, I’m not a glass half empty or half full person- I’m more of a “what do I care-it isn’t even my glass?”
Actually, you just spent time worrying rather than doing anything to get ahead. Waste of energy, nothing productive getting done. If you have time to worry you have time to sharpen your knife and reload.
Another cartoonist and I were talking about the Dalai Lama the other day; he believes that the majority of quotes people attribute to the Lama were things he never actually said. I can buy that; after all, why write “Being nice is good” when you can write “Being nice is good” – Dalai Lama and have some ‘credibility’?
Worrying is a major waste of time, energy, and limited brain cells, so let’s not worry about what happens next…because we’re going to get a sneaky teaser on Wednesday! Don’t worry until then!
The only quotes I believe come from the Dalai Lama are the ones from the book or from his speeches. Like most figures, it’s easier to slap legitimacy onto things with name recognition than effort. Some things, however……
“I once had a good idea. Someone else stole it and started quoting it as their own. I’m glad…… I’d have just forgotten it otherwise!” – Trevor Bond.
Smart guy, that Trevor!
A special teaser? Ohhhhh no ya don’t, I’m not having any of this on-the-edge-of-my-seat-all-month funny business, no sir!
…
… Well maybe just a quick peek wouldn’t hurt…
Just an itsy-bitsy little peek at the Christmas presents hidden in the back of your parents’ closet?
Gowaaaaan, do it! The temptation is overwhelming!
Such foreboding. I think Scap’s been in the game long enough to be able to pick up certain susceptible clues. By the way, each panel looks marvelously succulent. You outdid yourself, A. 😀
