SCIENCE FICTION DOUBLES FEATURE pt.3
Ol’ Scap is heading for more trouble: aside from Jemini and Mira Mira, it looks like Sharkmouth’s gang smells blood in the water. You might recognize Mustachio Manicotti (or not…he never really did anything) and fan favorite Seal Sakuro (who I had considered dead, until so many readers wrote to me saying he was their favorite character…geez, you people are weirdos!). The other gentlemen at the table will be introduced later.
Woo update!
I can’t help but wonder who this “someone really crazy” will be. It can’t be Zodi Jr. ’cause he got shot in the head, it could be dadaman, altough you said he wouldn’t appear until the next arc. -GASP!- Could this mean a new character?! I like where this is going. whoever it will be, he/she will have to be a real headcase to agree working with scapula, if you look at what has happened with his other cronies…
Point A, Scapula has guts and no fear. Point B, what exactly has he got to retake? Point C, Ah, the faithful bartender contact……. sacrosanct among criminals as long as they’re smart about what they say to who. And point C……. obviously san fran cops need seal clubbing lessons!
Ooooooh, can’t wait to see who the real crazy option is for a guy like Scapula! Worse than Tox? Worse than Throgor? Worse than busting out and teaming up with Hypnausea!? Since I doubt he was smart enough to keep Alice Cooper’s number in his empty head, I’m eager to see who it could be!
Sigh. Just realized I made 2 point C’s. Point D! Point D!!!!!!! *points at D*
I hear ya on the once a week thing and trying to expand it. But then, you have a much more complex comic to offer each and every week, both in writing and in presentation. Your Thursday offering should be good draw… get it… “draw”! … yeah, yeah, I’ll be quiet now! *grin*
wow scap can looks like a propper bad guy here 😀
wonder howlong it wil last 😛
Hello, everyone who isn’t at Comic-Con (yeah, I’ll try for next year, but for here and now I enjoy being someplace uncrowded with air-conditioning).
@Oldskoolguitar Woo! I found a quarter!
@ToCoWu Not bad guesses at all, O inquisitive reader! Zodi Jr is currently lying on a slab while a mortician who looks like David McCallum tells nonstop stories (okay, not everyone’s going to get that reference, but give yourself a cookie if you do).
Who will Scap reduce himself to working with? Maybe it is someone brand new, right off the comic assembly line and ready to make his life miserable! We’ll find out next week.
@LadyJenn Interesting points you make there, which I shall be courteous enough to address one-by-one:
Point A: Scap is no guts and all fear.
Point B: Everything. Scap is a control freak.
Point C: You’ve just added a new word to my vocabulary (“sacrosanct”). If that isn’t worth something, I don’t know what is!
Point C (the other one): Nina the Naughty Seal-Clubber was a Sausalito cop…and everyone in Sausalito is too busy tending to tourists to be much use for law enforcement (I would sincerely apologize to the people of Sausalito if they hadn’t charged me eight bucks for an ice cream cone).
Again, more very good guesses regarding his upcoming partner in crime; as for Alice, well, that was a once-in-a-lifetime encounter. At least he’ll have the memories.
@LadyJenn the Second Yep…yep, you did. Everyone laugh!
@jynksie Hey! I makes da corny puns around here, mac!
I put a lot of work into each and every strip, and yet, to be competitive on the big bad internet and it’s billions of webcomic residents you just need to do that much more. I don’t know if I’ll ever reach ‘Penny Arcade’ levels of readers, but I do what I can to get more people to appreciate the work I do.
Mom was right…I shoulda’ been a dentist!
@BarbaricBob It will last at least until next Sunday, when he’ll probably mess up everything!
Would Beetlejuice be considered a villain?
The Ikea heist sounds like one not to miss. I can’t help wonder if Mr. Darkevilhelldeath-Man Sock Puppet bad guy will make an appearance. You’ve got the story building nicely & I can’t wait till next week to see what heinous scheme Scapula has up his sleeve
The amount of work you put into your strips really shows. You do a great job with them Aiden. I can imagine that it must take a lot of time to do them to such a high quality.
Yeah, but you pack like three weekly updates into your once a week strip! Lots of chicanery developing in this one, fun characters as well. Looking forward to where “boney butt” goes next. Oh, and good luck on your “Villains and Monsters” feature, that will be a blast!
thats still a whole week and 1 page longer than most of the tinme 😀
@Bearman Depends on if it’s the movie or cartoon version; if the movie, yes, he was a bad guy, if the cartoon, then no, just a pest.
…or if you’re requesting Beetlejuice for VILLAINS & MONSTERS, sure, why not? I’m going to be pretty lenient about qualifies as a ‘villain’ or ‘monster’.
@TonyMcGurk the First Oh hooo, someone who wants IKEA to get their comeuppance, eh? Well, unfortunately that wont be a detour for the story, but maybe another time.
@TonyMcGurk the Second Thank you, good sir, and yes, these comics do take their toll at times. But what the hey; if I wanted to do something easy I’d be a heart surgeon.
@MarkStokes Thanks, man! Here’s hoping it draws in more readers!
@BarbaricBob Patience, patience! Haste makes waste, and all that junk.
true :o…. wonder if i can freeze myselff in and just wake up on important ocasions :/ dont have much better things to do annyway
I so dig the opening panel… I like the simplicity and the style. Kudos! And am anxious to see your new sketchy bloggie… sounds like loads of fun!
Growing a once a week webcomic is pretty tough… I also decided to offer additional content during the week to see if it brings people back… in addition to lots of advertising!
@BarbaricBob I wouldn’t trust being frozen around a duplicate who wishes to be independent…next thing you know you wake up as the ingredients of a margarita.
@squidrowmommy Glad you enjoy, Brig! Just sketching more Bay Area locales (in this case, the Hotel Utah in SF). And I hope everyone likes the sketch blog; it’ll give you all more reason to loiter around this site and not buy anything! This ain’t a library, ya whippersnappers!
@JerryBenedict Your pin-up girl drawings are actually really well done and also an excellent idea…hell, you’ll probably get twice as many readers with saucy vixens then I’ll get with scribblings of old funnybook bad guys!
At least id wake up delisioush 🙂
Fantastic interlude, A. Some of the most interesting parts of the Scapula series comes from just his thinking. I love how Scap’s mind works (or doesn’t work). Can’t wait til next week.
@BarbaricBob And wasted!
@George Wow, Scap would be thrilled to hear someone cares about what he thinks (well, he would if he wasn’t a fictional character…but don’t their opinions matter?). Don’t worry, buddy, this is the only bit of exposition we have to sit through; next week the ball gets rolling!
….. you know since jemini got a duplicate, will she or the duplicate die a horrible death?
isnt that like clone/dupe law? somthing like and God said: when a army of you’s apear they will be struk down horribly
or will the dupe become independant and try to kill the original? and wil the original know that the dupe knows that the original knows that the dupe knows that the original knows the dupe plans to kill the original?
finally! something resembling a plot! and a funny one, too. keep it up man.
I like the “go to hell” line. Simple but funny. And the “Call me when you stop being a lezbo.” great stuff. You got me hooked on the story too.
@BarbaricBob Lots and lots of questions make me drink uncontrollably! Now I have to go AA…hope I get back in time to finish next Sunday’s comic.
@montecristo Hey, plots and SCAPULA go together like whales and oven mitts…ponder that one over.
@FrankMHansen I should really start selling SCAPULA buttons and T-shirts with “GO TO HELL!” slapped right on them (and maybe the “lesbo” line, although that might get me into some hot water). It could work!
you dont have a problem with alcohol.
you have a problem with people complaining about it 😀
i’ve been drinking for years and all it cost me were brain cellc-sells-ce…. but who needs those annyway? 😛
I know it’s only been a month or so I’ve started following your comic, but it just awesome. I like the witty dialog, and how the story builds on itself. Looking forward to the next one. One more thing, yay to Seal Sakuro 😉
@alecho Domo alligator! Happy to hear you’re enjoying the story, and yes, you will be seeing much more of Seal Sakuro and his ass-kicking shenanigans.
Hahaha…
maybe the gang from the Antiques Road Show would be up for joining Scapula!
🙂
@SpilledInky Scap’s a criminal because he steals stuff; the Antiques Roadshow people just make up crap about how your great, great, great, great, great grandaunt’s old socks are worth a fortune.
Oh, so I’m not the only one who finds that Antiques Roadshow stuff a little weird sometimes? Good!
I accidentally saw a recent episode of Antiques Roadshow, and was pleasantly surprised to see them update older evaluations after a few years had passed. Most of them went down–go figure!
