Looks like Nazz has stepped up (sorry, folks, but you wont get to see her sidekick costume this time…and she looks so cute with a yellow cape, red leotard, and green speedo!). As for what Scapula has in store for his new assistant, well, that’s a story for another day.
Tune in this Sunday for the return of someone dead (that you know is dead) and the frightful return of someone you all THOUGHT was dead…
That last panel is fantastic after the macho militant streak! I love it! The characters gel so well and are full of all those little tweaks and traits that make them feel very alive. Wonderful!
Glad you enjoyed! We’ll see how they interact some other day, but for here and now this may be the start of a beautiful friendship…without that punk Claude Rains. Go make yourself invisible, Claude!
What has Nazz really done to show these qualities to Scap or anyone else? Her character highlights, as I remember them, were acting tough but squeaking in fright when they were first recruited, crazy-ex stalking Harky and eventually murdering him, and promising to do “anything” for Scap as his fortress burned down around them. Seems like Scap is grasping at straws, but then again his most reliable lieutenant is a pill popping sex-crazed party animal, so who knows! I look forward to seeing Nazz PROVE she’s got that potential… right before the comic ends xD
-“Acting tough but squeaking in fear”
-Stalking lovers
-Empty promises
Sound kinda like another character in the series
We’ll have to wait for the future to see how well Nazz does as Scap’s protege (we’ll be spending time with other characters next week). As for how well a judge of character our villain is, well…that’s up to you to decide.
It’s not what you want, it’s what you’re willing to give up that counts.
Very wise words. Nothing great comes without sacrifice. Eat your broccoli.
I am guessing Nazz did what served Scapula by taking out Bone China, and he is rewarding that despite his grief. Just one of many guesses of course. He is a complicated character, after all, and our actions always come from a multitude of reasons.
Very interesting viewpoint; I’ve refrained from explaining why the characters do things for the simple reason that the readers should be free to come to their own conclusions. There’s a time for exposition and hand-holding, and then there’s a time to let you see things how you wish to see them.
There’s an analogy in that last line somewhere, but I’ll let you all do the work on finding it. I’m taking a break!
I always just assumed you didn’t think people should be mind readers all the time.
I was thinking “Scap’s got a protege” even before I read the last panel. Be interesting to see where this goes.
